Questions
The things people ask us on the phone
Answered the way we would answer them on the phone. If yours is not here, ring us — you will get a person.
- Does Sellify work if my internet goes down?
- Yes. The Android till keeps selling with no connection at all — it prices the cart from a snapshot of your menu and taxes, prints the receipt, and queues the sale. When the connection comes back, every queued sale uploads and the server re-prices it from the item IDs. If anything disagrees, the sale is saved at the server figure and flagged for a manager instead of being quietly absorbed. Promo codes and manager approvals still need the internet, and the till says so in plain words rather than showing a dead button.
- Which tax authority does it handle — FBR, PRA or SRB?
- All of them, per branch. Taxes are set at company level with per-branch overrides, because a chain with an outlet in Lahore and one in Karachi answers to two different authorities. Every branch carries its own NTN and STRN. The payment method picks the rate — cash and card are usually filed at different percentages — and a split payment blends the two by how much was paid each way, then reports the tax split by method for your filing.
- My day does not end at midnight. Does the software understand that?
- It does. Every branch sets its own business day start, 7am by default, so a sale rung at 2am belongs to the previous day — where the cashier and the accountant both expect it. Every report, every day close and every Z report reads that same business day. Nothing in Sellify uses the calendar date for a daily figure.
- Can it tell me what each dish actually costs me?
- That is one of the main reasons restaurants buy it. Write the recipe once — in grams and millilitres, with wastage — and every sale deducts the ingredients rather than the dish. The food cost report then reads four ways off the same figures: per dish, per outlet per day with a city roll-up, per stock category, and item by item against your own counted closing. A dish with no recipe is reported separately instead of being costed at zero and quietly dragging your percentage down.
- We get orders from Foodpanda. How does that work?
- You add Foodpanda as a channel with its commission rate and how it pays you. The order is rung on your own till, but it never touches your cash drawer — the platform is holding that money, so the drawer stays honest. Later you record what Foodpanda actually paid, and Sellify shows the gap between what they owed and what arrived, per period, per channel.
- Can two cashiers sell the last unit at the same time?
- No, and this is settled by the database rather than by hope. When the shelf is checked, the stock row is locked, so the second till waits, reads a shelf of zero and is refused. Nothing is ever oversold. If you would rather sell and correct the count later, that is a setting you turn on per branch.
- What hardware do I need?
- A browser is enough to start — any laptop or desktop. For a proper counter, an Android tablet or a Sunmi terminal runs the same till with offline selling, a built-in printer and a barcode scanner. Thermal printers on 80mm or 58mm, network or Bluetooth, and A4 invoices as PDF. The receipt is built on the server, so every device prints exactly the same slip.
- How many branches and tills can I have?
- That depends on the plan, and every plan says so on the pricing page. Stock, cost and reports are kept per branch — one branch buying cheese dear does not move another branch’s food cost — and a transfer between branches carries the sending branch’s cost with it.
- Can I try it before I pay?
- Every new company starts on a free trial with everything switched on. We set the company, its first branch and your owner login up for you in one step, so there is no half-configured account to fight with. When the trial ends the till does not cut off dead — there is a grace period with a banner first, because stopping a restaurant mid-service is not how anybody gets paid.
- How do I pay for it?
- Bank transfer today. We issue an invoice, you pay into the account on it, and we record the payment against your subscription. Card billing is coming; nothing about how you use Sellify changes when it does.
