The Sellify manual
Written for the people who actually use the system: the owner setting a shop up, the manager keeping it right, and the cashier at the till. Every field name here is the label you see on the screen.
Setting a shop up, in order
Each step needs the one before it. For a small shop this is about an hour. Everything after it — home delivery, an aggregator, a staff canteen — is added when you need it and is never in the way if you do not.
- 1Check your branches — Everything else belongs to a branch
- 2Add your staff — So people can sign in, with the right powers
- 3Set how the shop behaves — Order types, approvals, receipt, day close
- 4Set your taxes — A sale cannot be priced correctly without them
- 5Build the menu or catalog — What the POS sells
- 6Set up stock — Only if you track it
- 7Write recipes — Restaurants — what a dish costs and consumes
- 8Set up the printer — So the receipt comes out right
- 9Pair your tills — A cashier cannot sign in without one
- 10Start selling
- 11Close the day — Every trading day, before going home

Money and the account
Three rules worth knowing first
- The server decides every figure. The till never multiplies a price — it asks the server, which is why a discount, a tax rate and a total can never disagree.
- Everything is per branch. Prices are company-wide, but taxes, receipts, stock, the business day and printers all belong to a branch.
- A business day is not a calendar day. If your day starts at 7am, a sale at 2am belongs to yesterday — on the receipt, in the reports and at day close.
