Branches

Menu: Branches · Who: owner, branch manager

A branch is one shop. Everything that happens — a sale, a stock movement, a day close — belongs to one. A company always has at least one.

Every branch in the company, with its code, prefix and business day.

FieldFill it in like this
NameWhat people call it — "Gulberg", "Johar Town"
CodeShort, unique inside your company — DC-GB. Leave blank and it is made from the name
Prefix3–4 letters that start every order number from this branch: DCGBDCGB-0001. Leave blank and it comes from the code
CityIts own field, not part of the address — reports and stock can be read for a whole city
AddressPrinted on the receipt. Leave empty to print head office's address instead
Business day starts atDefault 07:00. See below — this matters more than it looks
PhonePrinted on the receipt; falls back to the company's

Branch NTN and STRN are set on the branch too when a branch files its own tax; empty means the company's numbers are printed.

Editing a branch. Press Edit on any row to change these later. This is also where a Commissary (a central kitchen — see Commissary) is pinned to the branches it may issue stock to, under Issues to: pick some and it can transfer to only those, so a van never goes to the wrong city; pick none and it issues anywhere.

The business day

07:00 means the day runs 7am → 7am. A sale rung at 2am belongs to the previous date — on the receipt, in every report, and at day close. Set it to when your shop actually opens, not to midnight, or a late-night sale lands on the wrong day and your cashier's drawer will not tie out.

Each branch sets its own: a bakery opening at 6am and a restaurant closing at 3am can sit in the same company.

What a new branch costs

Your plan includes a number of branches and charges for each one past that. Adding a branch past the plan's ceiling is refused with a message telling you the limit — see Billing.

Rules the system enforces

  • A branch code is unique inside your company, not globally. Two companies may both have MAIN.
  • The prefix is used for order numbers and inventory documents, so keep it short.
  • A branch cannot be deleted once it has sold anything; make it inactive instead.
