Asking Sellify where something is

Menu: the ? button in the corner of every screen · Who: everybody

Nobody reads a manual at a counter with a customer waiting. So the manual is in Sellify: press the ? in the corner, type the question in your own words, and you are told which screen to go to.

Asking

Type it the way you would say it. "Printer kaise lagaun?" and "Where do I close the day?" are both fine — the answer comes back written the same way you typed the question. Roman Urdu in, Roman Urdu out; Urdu script in, Urdu script out; English in, English out. You do not have to know what the screen is called.

If you would rather have it a different way, just say so — "roman urdu mein batao" — and it stays that way for the rest of that conversation.

Menu routes are never translated. "Setup → Printers" is what is actually written on your screen, so it is printed exactly like that whatever language the rest of the answer is in.

The answer is short: the route, like Setup → Printers, and the steps. Under it are the manual chapters the answer came from — press one to read the whole page.

While it is working it says what it is doingThinking, Looking through the manual, Reading the chapter, Writing the answer. That is the real order it works in, shown as it goes, so a wait of a few seconds reads as a screen that is busy rather than one that has stopped.

You can keep going. "Aur uske baad?" carries on from what was just said, so you are not starting again each time.

Starting again, and going back

Two buttons at the top:

  • New chat (the +) starts a fresh conversation. The one you were in is not lost — it goes on the list below.
  • Past questions (the clock) lists everything you have asked, newest first. Press one to open it again and carry on from where it stopped.

The list is yours alone. A manager cannot read a cashier's questions and a cashier cannot read anyone else's — every conversation belongs to the person who signed in and asked it.

What it knows, and what it does not

It has read the manual and nothing else.

That means it can tell you where every screen is, who may open it, and what the steps are. It cannot see your sales, your customers, your stock or your staff — not "how much did I take today", not "what does Ali earn". It has no way to reach any of that, which is also why nothing you type there goes near your shop's own figures. Ask the reports those questions; ask this one where the reports are.

It also answers for you. A cashier asking about adding stock is told that is their manager's screen, rather than being walked to a page they cannot open — and if your package does not include something, it says so instead of sending you to a screen that will refuse you.

Where you will find it

  • On every admin screen — bottom right.
  • On the web POS — bottom left, deliberately: Pay is bottom right and nothing is allowed to sit on top of it.
  • On the Android and Windows tillHelp in the side rail, beside Support. They are different errands: Help says where a screen is, Support sends us a report when the till is misbehaving.

On the web POS it opens closed every time. On the admin panel it stays where you left it, so a screen you keep it open on keeps it open.

New chat and Past questions are on the app too, in the header rather than in the corner.

On the app it needs the internet — the manual lives on the server, and an old copy on the device would send you to the wrong screen. It names the chapter rather than opening it; read the chapter here on the panel or on sellifypos.com. With no connection Past questions is not offered at all, for the same reason: that list is on the server too.

If the answer looks shorter than usual

You may see the chapters with a line saying the assistant is resting until next month. Each shop has a monthly allowance for it; when that runs out the assistant stops writing answers but the manual is still searched, so you still get the chapter and the route. It starts again on the 1st.

What it costs you

Nothing — it is part of Sellify on every package, not something extra to buy.

If it is not there at all

The ? button is on every screen for everybody. If your server has been set up without the manual files, the button will be there and answer nothing; tell us and we will put it right.
